A Day Later

So I begged and pleaded for your help and support. In my night of anguish, in a night where the exciting new Mets, who actually seem poised in 2006 to live up to the 2005 refrain that "next year is now", were making me sad, I called on you, the readers, to come to my rescue. My port in the storm! The light at the end of the tunnel! The masses who support Yankees 2000, unite (!) to save your woe begotten leader!

After my impassioned plea, all I got was Happy Will. Salt.

At least there's the constant reassurance that everything will be OK that is UrbanCougar.com

Before I get started with the baseball talk, which, after a long night of wine coolers vodka cranberry's I am oh so ecstatic to do, let me take a moment to thank urbancougar, one of our many sponsors.

Urbancougar.com is a website which if you don't know, you should all get to know. It pays tribute to attractive older women, Cougars, tells you their stories, and even gives you places where to meet them, Cougar Dens.

Last Sunday, I'm sitting in Blondies with some of the world's better people, J Schubes, Yanni Gunz, and as always AFOMG when I get a call from a good friend of mine, and grandson of Watergate scandal-wag H.R Haldeman.

"Sippy Momo, I'm walking down the Vegas strip in a black shirt, kacki suit having just slain the most ridiculous cougar."

No reason for this story except that I'm trying to give our sponsors some love and my buddy his due, via blog.

Note: Haldytime does not have red hair.

So I dipped into the newest mailbag today, btw, SippyMomo@gmail soon to come and got some interesting e-mails. Because I don't have an ounce of creativity in this unemployed brain of mine(note: as of 6 days, I will no longer be unemployed and living with my parents, I will simply be unemployed...WHAMMY!) I thought this would be a fun way to spend our friday.

Big SippyMomo, what are your thoughts on the proposed Kris Benson for Jorge Julio swap? Man, this deal reminds me of a tough game of Texas Hold 'Em 1-2 Lightning Suited 2's and 3's with a royal twist...

Well PPF420, I've never played that brand of Hold 'Em -- must be a Baltimore thing. I'm not a fan of this deal at all. I don't want Heilman anywhere but in our bullpen. My father, the wisest man I know, has always said that games are won from the bullpen. Old Chipper chooses his words carefully, so I gotta stick with him on that one.

Kris Benson was great at times last year, and truth is, you gotta take a low 4 ERA out your #3. Especially this year when the offense should be scoring at least 5 or 6 runs per game.

I also read in the Times today that the Mets would demand more than Julio. Maybe we could get Raffy Palmeiro out of this one to secure an A+ offseason.

Ya Gotta Believe asked:

Yo Sip, with all these moves, where do you see the Mets finishing this year?

Right now I can't give the division to anyone but the Braves. After last season, when they started 7 guys younger than me and won, you just gotta give them their due.

Their kids are all a year older. They say the same things about Jeff Francouer that we say about D Wright. Thet still have Smoltz and Hudy pitching 2 out of every 5 games, which remains baseball's best 1-2.

Their bullpen is a disaster, especially when they lose Farnsworth, but it was a disaster last year and they still won.

I'd like to see what losing Rockin' Leo does to that team but until we beat them, the NL East is the Braves' division.

Yo Sip, love the site. You are a god to me. What do you think are some smaller moves the Mets can make this offseason?

I think the big priority remains the bullpen. Mike Myers or Joey Eischen from the left side would be huge. Someone who can challenge the Ryan Howards and Brad Wilkersons late in the game would be huge and add some balance to a righty-dominated pen.

Angry Walter asked:

Why do you give a shit about a fat pitcher with an 86-mph fastball who underwhelms every scout who watches him? And, assuming this guy is a fat slob, as widely reported in the NY and Nat'l media, isn't this a GOOD PR JOB by the Mets of getting the spin out that this guy was actually good when it seems that he will be a career middle reliever?

Well Walt, as I've said, losing Yusmeiro Petit doesnt bother me. It may be that Mets people dont project him that high, but he remained a highly regarded prospect in baseball.

My qualm with the Delgado deal is not that we gave him up. It's that I dont think (as Willie constantly points out this is speculation) that we needed to give them both up for Delgado.

We should have one of Jacobs or Petit to use as trade bait now. Im sure the O's would take Mike Jacobs for Jorge Julio given their current 1b situation.

J Schubes, no disrespect my man, but as you've said, BringbackBj2006 doesnt exactly scream WHOPPER, not does Walter Young, their 360 lb. prospect who just loves to eat whoppers.

Hey Sip, why are you so mad?

I don't know, Willie. My brother used to beat the hell out of me when I was a kid. I think it may have messed with my head a bit as I got older, given me a little complex.

It may have something to do with my bizarre Coldplay obsession. Yeah guys, that's me. I simply love that band. Whether this takes away from my street cred, that is for you do to decide, but I gotta stick with them.

The fact that I listen to songs with lyrics such as, "All I ever wanted to be, is living in perfect symmetry," and really enjoy it says something about these guys. What any of their songs mean, I cannot say. I really have no fucking clue. But they are peaceful and in my world of anger, I crave that inner peace.

But all in all, I'm a pretty happy guy. I have good friends, a good family, "Major League" and "Major League II" on DVD and VHS a combined 7 times and most importantly, brown hair.

I wish you could spinkle some of your happiness on the world. It would make it a better place.

That's all I got for you guys today. Have a great weekend. Check out "Point Break" if you need some inspiration and keep your ear to the grindstone.
